Strandfontein Community Peace Garden is founded on the idea that people should have a place to go where they can sit and enjoy nature without really having to drive out of our beautiful area.
It is also based on the desire and passion to preserve indigenous plants that grow well in our sandy soil and that are native to our area.
The Garden was initiated by the efforts of one man, Mr. R. Hartley who then inlisted several people to help fulfill his vision of a garden that is open to all. The Peace Garden in a way should remind us of our common ancestors in the book of Genesis, or in the Qur'an who started out in the Garden of Eden and who then fell into sin and was sent to earth. In this Garden, Adam and Eve found peace and tranquility and in our lives it is also our goal to find peace within.
Our Strandfontein Community's Peace Garden is one means at which we try to attain some sense of contentment by remembering where we originally came from and where we would like to return. In this respect the garden also has a spiritual value along with it's community and social function as a hang-out spot for people wanting to picnic, or as a meeting point for friends.
We welcome everyone to come and view our garden and enjoy our wonderful area. We also have, amongst other things a wonderful community library just down the road, a mosque nearby and several churches in the area. In addtion to what you can find in the area, you will also find our beach just five minutes away from the Garden. In fact, you can see the sea from the road the garden is in if you look over the roof tops of the houses. It is really worth the trip to come and see our garden and make a day of it. We also have several cafes where you can buy lunch, use the internet, cut your hair, play a game of pool or have a cup of coffee.
You can find the Peace Garden in Marlin Crescent, Strandfontein, Western Cape, 7798. Enter the address into Google Maps and you should be able to find it without any hassles. We are proudly Strandfontein and we look forward to seeing you in our area. Remember, that our Peace Garden is open to everyone, so bring the kids along as well.
